Our call for submissions for the 2013 National Poetry Month blog has now ended. For the first time, we held two simultaneous calls for poems for the blog, both for members and non-members.
Please check back during the month of April, when the blog will feature a range of work from Canada’s established and emerging poets.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
Non-professional poet submissions – Now Closed
Do you secretly write poetry in the middle of the night? Do you dream of quitting your day-job to spend your time writing verse? We want to find some of Canada’s great new poets and introduce them to you during National Poetry Month! Beginning March 1, the LCP will be accepting submissions from all non-professional poets (poets who have never been published before or who have a limited history of publication). Each day during National Poetry Month, we will be featuring a poem from a new poet, and sharing it through our blog, Twitter, Facebook and email. This is a great opportunity to get an example of your work exposed to our followers, and to many of the publishers of Canadian poetry.
This is the Fifteenth Anniversary of National Poetry Month, and as such we would like to invite you to submit poetry on any subject for consideration, but especially those that celebrate life, poetry and our freedom to engage in the beauty of the arts.
In the subject line, please type NPM New Poet and where the submission is from. For example: NPM New Poet, Toronto.
All submissions must be electronic and cannot exceed 200 words. Send up to 3 poems in MS word document AND within the body of your e-mail. For spoken word poetry, please include a link to the audio or video where the poem can be viewed, as well as a written biographical statement.
Your biographical statement should include your history of publication (if applicable) and should be no longer than 50 words, including internet links. Please be sure to include your name, contact information, and the province/territory you live in.
We are looking for representation from all over Canada, so geographical region as well as your submission will be taken into account when selecting poems. You will receive an email acknowledgment from the LCP within one week of sending in your submission.
Submissions will be accepted from March 1, 2013 to March 19, 2013 and should be sent to lcpnationalpoetrymonth@gmail.com
Authors and artists of all contributions to this blog retain the copyright to their own material. No work may be reproduced in any form without the express written permission of the author/artists and or copyright holder.
For additional information please contact lcpnationalpoetrymonth@gmail.com. We are happy to answer any questions and can’t wait to see the submissions!
LCP Member Submissions – Now Closed
Each day during National Poetry Month, we will be published a poem from one of our members each day on our blog, and sharing it with members and supporters through our blog, website, Twitter and Facebook. This is a great opportunity to have a poem you love, or have never published before, shown to supporters of National Poetry Month as well as a new audience.
To enter, please submit 1 poem (either published or unpublished) to lcpnationalpoetrymonth@gmail.com. This year, we will be celebrating the Fifteenth Anniversary of National Poetry Month, and as such we would like to invite you to submit poetry on any subject for consideration, but especially those that celebrate life, poetry, and our freedom to engage in the beauty of the arts.

Poems will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. However, as we are looking for representation from all over Canada, geographical region will also be taken into account when selecting poems.
